Science with the Microscope

The kids were tired and grumpy after being up later for liturgy the night before so we abandoned the math and got out the microscope. The morning was devoted to poking ourselves in an attempt to make a slide of a blood cell. After much effort Joanna suceeded!

Back to School!

Yay! It feels so good to be back to our school routine. We decided to celebrate both going back to school and my 4 new piano students!

I was so trilled to finish this quilt in time for Isabelle and Tom's wedding. Isabelle paid me the best compliment by saying that she now knows what she would grab in the event of a fire - this quilt!!

Day at Lewes

This was our day on Friday. Can't imagine why I didn't have time to post them till now!

The wedding yesterday was beautiful. Lily felt so special all day as flower girl - she got a special hairdo, lip gloss and got to spend the morning with Emma and Isabelle. She led the procession down the aisle beautifully and was so grown up.

We spent a quiet day on Sunday. We were all worn out after a long day in the sun on Saturday.

Bodium Castle

We spent the day at Bodium Castle yesterday. It was the perfect castle to visit with the kids. It has a moat and although the inner walls are mostly gone the towers are intact so we were able to climb the stairs to the to of the tower. That was really scary with John because the stairs were so steep and tall - I ended up carrying him back down. They also got to dress up in real armor and see a trebuchet (catapult) shoot, watched an abbreviated version of Macbeth on the castle grounds and just enjoyed the gorgeous castle grounds.

Music Camp

Lily enjoyed another awesome week at Music Camp this year. The first photos are from her solo in Don't Worry Be Happy. She did such a good job, especially as she went out into the audience and interacted with people. We listened to the practice cd in the car during our paper route today and the boys sang along to all the songs. Gabe knew the words to many of them and sang along - I hardly ever him sing long enough to hear so it was fun even though I am sick of the songs!

Grandpa's Visit

My hutch finally has a home! Dad made this for me about 12 years ago - it just made it out of the shop and to my house yesterday. Today we're going to go pick out some hardware and stain. I can't wait to put my dishes in it!
Garden plots finally have some green in them and some bark mulch around them - thanks Bartletts!!
The kids couldn't get outside to play with Grandpa early enough this morning.
