LEARNING TO FLY

I have lost my sight, smell, hearing taste and touch:
How should I use them for your closer contact?

If I must fly, do not make me a swallow
or I may try to flutter into the sun; I do not
want to be broken by even that insubstantial
body, much less by the burden of everything
that rises and falls back, unable to resist itself;
but rather, I want to remember that I am born
from earth. And if I must fly, make me a feather;
then I will float back to you on some small wind
and come to rest in your deepest valley where
I cannot lift myself away from your immensity.

I like that part in the prayer that says, "Save me whether I want it or not!"

Thanks for sharing this, Fr. Richard!
